John Fiene is the Founder and Clinical Director of Wicker Park Therapy Group, where he provides psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, and clinical supervision.
His clinical experience includes work with individuals, couples, families, and groups across a wide range of backgrounds and treatment settings, including addictions counseling, inpatient psychiatric care, school social work, and partner abuse intervention.
His relational approach is informed by contemporary psychoanalysis. He is a fourth-year candidate at the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute, where he serves as candidate representative to the Board of Trustees.

My clients may be struggling with relationship difficulties, conflicted feelings, relational trauma, problems with attachment or intimacy, persistent sadness, emotional withdrawal, procrastination, anxiety, anger, or a sense of emptiness.
Psychoanalytic therapy offers a way to understand these difficulties at a deeper level. Psychoanalytic treatment explores the emotional patterns, unconscious meanings, and early relational experiences that continue to shape a person’s life.
The relationship between patient and therapist is central to this work. Over time, therapy becomes a place where difficult feelings can be recognized, understood, and worked through. In the safety of a consistent therapeutic relationship, people can begin to notice old patterns, experience emotional repair, and develop new ways of relating to themselves and others.
